Rule-of-thumb method: envelope factor scaled to the design temperature difference, ASHRAE people gains, lighting and equipment, ventilation load and a 10% allowance. Not suitable for pharmaceutical cleanrooms, where air change rates and process loads govern. Final equipment selection needs a room-by-room load calculation.
